The Electric Chair was envisioned in 1881 by a dentist after watching an elderly drunkard touch the terminals of an electrical generator.  Once strapped, various cycles of alternating currents are passed through the body to fatally damage the internal organs. The first jolt of electricity caused immediate unconsciousness and brain death. The second caused fatal damage to the vital organs and heart. Today the Electric Chair it is used as a practical way to read at night.
